Who are we?
Dawn Palman-Deterding
I run Craft Ambrosia with the generous encouragement of my
husband and help from quite a few other people especially Allyson (see below), Rita, Pamela, Karen and Heather.
I started the company a few years ago after discovering a
love of rubber stamping and altered art. We were purely an online shop to start with but we soon outgrew the confines of the
internet and opened our Hitchin shop in October 2007.
Before that I was a freelance product designer and I
still do that, in my spare time...(what spare time?).
Enough about me!
Allyson Longe
…is a very talented papercrafter who I’m pleased
to have taking the occasional CrafTea for me. She has created some beautiful projects and has a wealth of experience to share.
She says:
‘I have always done some form of craft. From an early
age at home knitting and sewing with my mother, to discovering rubber stamping ten years ago and now I’m well and truly
hooked!’
Judy Lipinski
Is
a very talented and experienced tutor who I'm pleased to say will be taking classes for me over the next quarter.

Why the name Craft Ambrosia?
I often get asked why I named the company Craft Ambrosia. It's a simple explanation really and nothing
to do with the popular brand of rice pudding! Ambrosia, was, according to the most popular versions of Greek legend,
the food of the Gods (Nectar being the drink of the Gods). Cherry-picking the best and most interesting products for
my customers (the Gods!) has always been the reason for starting the company, so likening the special products we sell
to food of the Gods (Ambrosia), the name Craft Ambrosia was born.
